Takashi Miike Does America!
(My alternate title was "Oh Miike you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind, hey Miike!")
If you like cult-ish type movies, you'll probably have heard of Miike. He's one of my favorite directors. I just saw two of his films, Bird People in China and Imprint.
Imprint is Miike's first American feature. Needless to say, Showtime, which buys the features for their one-hour show, "Masters of Horror", they REJECTED Miike's film!
The only way you can get to see this film is through DVD.
After watching it, I can pretty much see why they wouldn't air it. They would've offended about 90% of their viewers !! (Torture, Dead babies, strange people - you know, the typical Miike film!)
I guess America's just not yet ready for Miike.
PS, I have a HUGE PROBLEM with this film: Everyone spoke English. All the japanese actors had a big problem trying to deliver their dialogue in English. I think it would've been better with Japanese dialogue.
Attached are my Miike DVDs! I KNOW I'M MISSING A BUNCH, you don't have to tell me.
